Perverse Incentives, Hypercompetition, and Hyperprolific Authors in Academia

Earlier last year, I read the following article that is still making waves among the academics. I believe university managements, academics, scientists, researchers, and even students, should read it. We in Malaysia are also moving into the direction pointed out by the authors of the article. 

More recently, an article highlighted the fact that some researchers have published more than 70 papers a year - known as hyperprolific authors. Perhaps some soul-searching on these issues might be a primary necessity.
